Introducing the Z09 Series, Electroformed Blades with Fine Grit Size and High Strength Bond

DISCO Corporation (Head Office: Ota-ku, Tokyo; President: Kazuma Sekiya) has developed the Z09 series, a new electroformed blade series specifically with a fine grit size.

Development Background
The Z09 series consists of hubless electroformed blades, developed as a new solution for highly straight deep grooving or high-quality and high-speed processing of brittle materials, which could not be realized by the conventional blades.
The Z09 series, specifically with a fine grit size (fine diamond abrasive grains), adopts a high-strength bond and highly accurate concentration control technology, enabling deep grooving of PZT (lead zirconate titanate), which is utilized in ultrasonic transducers, and high-speed and high-quality processing of ceramics and silicon.
Features of the Z09

<High-strength bond>

Use of the newly developed high-strength bond realizes highly straight deep grooving.

<More detailed classification of concentration>

Five levels of concentration are available, so that a blade with a good balance between quality and life can be selected.

<Introduction of a low-concentration blade>

The Z09 series contains a low-concentration of "30" which was not available in the conventional blade series. Since this blade type enables processing under low load, it can handle very hard materials, such as ceramics, at a fast speed. Furthermore, it promotes self-sharpening, so that productivity can be improved by reducing intermediate dressing.

Note:

Concentration: Rate of abrasive grains (diamonds) contained in a blade.
Low concentration = Low content of abrasive grains
