| The simultaneous use of two spindles to perform cutting. This method
offers high throughput. |
Both the step cut and the bevel cut are performed with two spindles, each of
which is fitted with a different blade. In the step cut, first a wider blade grooves the workpiece;
then a thinner blade cuts all the way through. The step cut can have the benefit of reduced backside
chipping. |
In the bevel cut, first a V-shaped blade grooves the workpiece; then a thin,
straight blade cuts all the way through. This cut imparts to each die a special bevel shape, which
can result in increased die strength. |
